Youth Sports Official
Supervisor: Sport Director
Prerequisites:
Must be at least 16 years of age and possess a working knowledge
of one or more of the following sports: Basketball, Volleyball,
Roller Hockey, Soccer, Flag Football. Must be personable,
decisive and willing to be a teacher of the sport.
General Responsibilities:
To take a leadership role at youth sport games and make sure
they run smoothly and efficiently.
Specific Responsibilities:
Areas of responsibility include the following headings:

Supervision

General Responsibilities
Skill Development and Progression:
1.
A youth sports official should continue to develop their knowledge
of the sport and the mechanics involved with officiating that sport.
Staff Training:
1.
Attend officials meetings as required.
Supervision:
1.
The youth sport official is responsible for the smooth operation of
games during the season.
2.
The official should voice any concerns to the program director so
they can be addressed immediately.
General Responsibilities:
1.
Report 15 minutes early to assigned shifts.
2.
Call games fairly and consistently.
3.
Be a role model to participants in the youth sports program.
4.
Keep track of equipment at each game site.
5.
Occasionally pass out handouts or equipment to coaches.
6.
Maintain a positive atmosphere at each game.
7.
Inform coaches how you will referee the game.
8.
Keep game sites neat and free of trash.
9.
Any other duties pertaining to officiating the given sport.
Effect on End Results:

Sport games will be played on time.

Coaches and participants will appreciate the effort given by the
official.

Participants will learn about their given sport and have fun
participating.
