Kids Room Attendant
General Responsibilities:
1.
Provide a safe and positive experience for children in the
supervised play programs.
2.
Interact with children ages 0-10
3.
Communicate with parents.
4.
Provide excellent customer service “so the person I serve
today will want to return tomorrow.”
5.
Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
6.
Wear the required uniform, including name badge to identify
self as a member of the staff team.
7.
Keep all point of contact areas clean and free of clutter,
including food, beverages and staff belongings.

Skill Development and Progression:
Work toward learning parent and child names.
Staff Training:
Attend and participate in all staff meetings and in-service
trainings.
Supervision:
1. Interact with the children at their eye level. Make frequent
interactions.
2. Treat each child with dignity and respect.
3. Staff guides and disciplines in a positive manner.
4. Demonstrate and model qualities of YMCA Character
Development. Caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
5. Maintain ratios required for proper supervision of children.
Program Development:
1. Interact with children as they participate in play
activities. This includes moving around the program area and working
with all children.
2. Work toward developing new activities for children in the
supervised play areas.
3. Greet parents as they enter for drop off or pick up. Direct
them to sign child in or out and share details of the child’s stay
in the program.
General Procedures:
1. Meet the basic needs of children and make sure they are comfortable.
2. Take complete responsibility for scheduled hours and if necessary,
follow the appropriate substitution procedures.
3. Report to work 15 minutes prior to schedule shift and punch in.
4. Perform assigned maintenance duties (cleaning).
5. Complete all necessary paperwork and record keeping (i.e. accident,
incident, sign-in, sign-out sheets)
6. Neatly return any toys or equipment to the appropriate areas at the
end of your shift.
7. Do
not socialize with other personnel.
8. Read, know, follow and enforce emergency procedures and also all
YMCA policies, rules and health codes applicable to the supervised
play environment.
